Description
To microwave: Mix 1/2 cup Steel Cut Oats with 2 cups water in an 8 cup bowl (so Oats don’t spill over when cooking). Seal the bowl with plastic wrap and run on high 5 minutes. Stir and cook another 5 minutes. Cooking times may need to be adjusted for different microwave models.
Old Fashioned Overnight Method:
Boil 4 cups water in pot, turn off heat and add one cup Steel Cut Oats. Cover pot and leave overnight. In the morning cook over a low flame 9-12 minutes.
Alternate recipe:
Simmer 1/2 hour or until grains become soft and translucent: 1/2 c. steel cut oats, 1 c. coarse dry corn, 1 c. cracked wheat, 1/2 c. bran, 1 tsp salt, 1 c. dried fruit, 7 c. water. Add sweetener and milk.
